Our Background

FMRC (Financial Management Research Centre) was established in 1969 by the University of New England to undertake benchmarking for small businesses in Australia. In 1983 it became a private company and was located alongside the University in Armidale NSW.

In 1998 FMRC Business Development Pty Ltd was established by Geoff Perry as a separate company specialising in training and consulting to pharmacy, retail, machinery and automotive sectors.

We specialise in courses for Owners, Franchisees and Franchise Development Managers tailored to your business or marketing systems. The industries we specialise in are found on our "Industry Workshop" tab and we have over 20 years experience assisting business or practice owners in many of these sectors. This enables us to share with you latest practices and benchmark your business across a range of different industries as well as specifically in your industry.

Our consultants come from industry, many still running their own businesses which enables us to provide you with not only the latest ideas and tools but also tried and proven techniques of business management and control specific to your business so saving you a lifetime of trial by error.

We specialise in developing national programs for franchisors or co-operatives using benchmarking and tailored courses to their systems to assist their dealer or member development. Companies using us in this way include Toyota Motor Corporation Australia, The Tractor and Machinery Association endorsed by all its member manufacturers, Yamaha, Telwater Marine, API Ltd, Canon Australia, Bayer, Bridgestone Australia among many others, some who have been using us for over 20 years.

Our home base is in the University town of Armidale in Northern NSW and our public courses are conducted throughout Australia . The conference facilities we use are set in a peaceful, relaxing environment, away from the city bustle and usual daily distractions.

Many clients bring us in-house for shorter courses for their managers where we can ensure the training is specific and practical to your immediate needs. So you can 'get away from it all' for a rural retreat......or we can come to you.

When you come to one of our courses you will apply the exercises to your own business or a specific case-study and share the course with around 20 people from your industry who are keen to share their practices and grow their businesses. We will ensure you leave refreshed with practical methods, a new focus and a structured plan to build your business for profit, growth... and fun!
